Michigan defensive back Mike Sainristil is an absolute gem. The young man is wise beyond his years, leads both by example and with a respectful voice and seems to be just about everyone's favorite teammate. Oh, and he's one hell of a football player.

The 5-10, 182-pounder has played on both sides of the ball and in several jersey numbers but everything else about him as a young man and football player remains the same. He always shows up ready to work, takes everything he does very seriously and flat out makes plays when needed.

He's also now coaching and "general managing" for Michigan as well. Sainristil explained how he's taking young, newly-minted cornerback Amorion Walker under his wing in order to bring him along after switching from wide receiver to defensive back a la Sainristil himself. Sainristil also explained how he was instrumental in bringing Coastal Carolina transfer Josaiah Stewart to Ann Arbor. Stewart hails from the same high school as Sainristil, which game the U-M captain an inside track on how Stewart would fit at Michigan. The coaches took Mikey up on his tip, checked out the film and now Stewart is getting after it in a winged helmet.

To put it bluntly, Mike Sainristil does it all.

In the video below, Sainristil talks about Walker as a cornerback prospect and explains why he has the potential to be a special, special player. He also talks about the leaders on the team and makes it very clear that, while this is Jim Harbaugh's show, the players are instrumental in how things are done in the building, weight room, practice field and inside The Big House. Sainristil also goes into detail about why 2023 is going to be another very special year around the Michigan football program.
